A significant fire broke out at a family-owned timber pallet business in Minto, with flames reaching 20 metres high and requiring over 60 firefighters and 16 trucks to bring under control. The fire began outside the factory, minutes after a hooded figure was seen on the property, and investigators are treating the incident as suspected arson.

This is the third time in less than a year that the business, Pallets Incorporated, has been targeted by arsonists, including a previous attack at another yard owned by the same family. Police do not believe the incident is gang-related, and the motive for the repeated attacks remains unknown as the investigation continues.

Oh, it's like spreading. ..it took more than 60 firefighters and 16 trucks who managed to save nearby buildings. I just popped my head out to have a look and I'd just seen the sky was red. It was crazy. It was like, you know, a lot of smoke. You could smell it. Really valiant effort by those firefighters. They were quite aggressive in their fire attack. They got to work with hose lines and did it old school. The blaze took hold at around 10.30pm, minutes before a hooded figure was seen walking through the property. Indications are that it started on the outside of the factory where the pallets were stored out in the art. Today, detectives joined fire investigators zeroing in on this hole in the front fence identified as a possible entry point for arsonists. This isn't the first time the business has been targeted. Pallets Incorporated was damaged by arsonists late last year. Another yard, owned by the same family in Wetherill Park, was hit a few months earlier. The devastated owners today left wondering who's trying to destroy their livelihoods for the third time in less than 12 months. When we saw the extent of the damage, it was mind-blowing as to how someone could do this to a company trying to make ends meet. Police don't believe the blaze was gang-related, with the firebugs still on the run, their motive remains a mystery. Hannah Taylor, 10 News.
