A strong cold front will knock temperatures a good 10-25 degrees below average this week. The cooler weather first arrives across the Northern Plains and the Midwest where areas will see highs only in the 60s and lows in the 30s and 40s!

A strong cold front is sweeping across the Midwestern United States, causing a sharp decline in temperatures. While southern regions remain warm, areas near the northern border and the Great Lakes are expected to see temperatures fall 10 to 20 degrees below average. Cities such as Marquette, Minneapolis, and Green Bay may experience daytime highs in the 50s and 60s, approaching or matching record lows that date back as far as 1918. The cold conditions are expected to persist through the upcoming weekend, maintaining the chill across the region.

Strong cold front means business, here's how chilly it will get

Watch what happens as we head into today. Looking, you know, somewhat summer like you got temperatures in the 80s down in the I-20 corridor. 70s for New England, which is beautiful. 70s up here into the Great Lakes. That also is going to be very, very nice tomorrow morning. Similar similar feel, but we're starting to see some temperatures take a tumble. I should use the blue color here because we're starting to feel those temperatures becoming to drop for areas around the northern border. And you can kind of see that with our color contours here, as they start to sag down into the Great Lakes. Meanwhile, the southern tier will actually kind of warm up here. So it's going to be interesting as we wait for that boundary to move through. So we're talking 10 to 20 degrees below our average. So now we're flirting with maybe record cold daytime highs. Alright, and there's your second cold front that keeps us chilly as we go into this upcoming weekend. So there are places like Marquette, Minneapolis, Green Bay, Wisconsin. Our highs are in the 50s and 60s. Our record low high is in the 50s and 60s. Some of these records, Jim, going all the way back to 1918. We end the World War One, so they've been here for a minute. And of course that just continues as we work our way through this week.
