Kim has denied all charges and requested a trial by judge rather than by jury. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.

The trials are widely seen as part of a clean sweep by the governing party and justice system following the impeachment of the former president. President Yoon Seok-yol was, according to the prosecutor's investigation, was all behind all these scandals and the political corruptions which enabled the first lady to exercise unconstitutional power. Outside the courthouse, there were also supporters of the former first lady and her husband. From our point of view, this is 100% a witch hunt, a political scapegoat and nothing more than a political show.
