Cities like Boston may see some accumulation, while Philadelphia and New York are forecast to receive minimal snowfall.

The snow focus is where we have these alerts and I want to circle West Virginia for you. It's hard to see the winter weather advisories there just kind of because it kind of blends in. We do have winter storm watches along the east coast of Maine as well so some heavier snowfall expected there but it gives you an idea of the biggest impact areas. Now let's go back to radar and clouds give you a closer look at exactly what's going on here and I clicked too fast. There we go. I want to take you over the last six hours here. We talked about Pittsburgh this line moving in it's going to break up a little bit as it moves into the city but this isn't all of the precipitation that we're talking about. We have some further to the north as well when all is said and done by tomorrow night. Back to that snow map that you got a sneak peek of one to three inches widespread here not really for Pennsylvania. The far northern portions you get it on the action but it's further to the north that we really get our act together with the snow. Boston you're right on the line expect some accumulation. Meanwhile Philadelphia, New York you're not going to see too much accumulating snowfall. You'll see some snowflakes maybe a little bit sticking to the ground but we're below the one to three inch criteria here. Of course the higher total is three to six up into our higher elevations into the Adirondacks, the Green and White Mountains areas like that. I want to show you future radar and clouds because this really gives you an idea of what I was talking about when I say that it really changes overnight. There's our widespread rainfall. Pittsburgh getting in on the action and then even snowfall as we head further into the north. Now some of you it's going to be sleet, it's going to be ice. That brings up its own challenges. For others it is the snow. Either one can create some slick spots on the roads during a very busy travel week. So we get to 5 p.m. Tuesday. Boston snowflakes are falling and I'm stopping at 5 p.m. specifically for a couple reasons. One, I know a lot of people you're working Monday, Tuesday, you're off the rest of the week so 5 p.m. maybe you're trying to get home and there's traffic because of the snow. Or you are traveling for the holidays 5 p.m. on your Tuesday and you face some delays because of the snow. Whatever situation you're in, I want to give you that timeline and that heads up. It takes a while Wednesday for the snow to completely get out of here and we don't say complete goodbye to the raindrops, the snowflakes, but this is our quote unquote break into Thursday before the next system starts to move in. Take a look. This is our early heads up so that you are prepared because I know especially Friday, big travel day after the holiday, a lot of people trying to get home after Christmas and anyone in blue expect some problems. Now the thing is we're talking about snow or ice potential. You want to check back with us over the next couple of days to get the exact details on who gets snow, how much, who gets ice, how much because those details will be coming out in the next few days as things become a little bit clearer. But right now your overall headline, your takeaway, anybody highlighted in blue here, be prepared for some problems.
