Police have extended the search for accused cop killer Dezi Freeman to Bright and Wangaratta, urging locals with information to come forward.

Police are continuing their search for Desi Freeman, setting up a mobile unit in the town centre of Bright and conducting searches in both Bright and Wangaratta. Authorities have closed off several streets in Wangaratta and are focusing their investigation on the property where the incident occurred, with aerial and ground searches around Mount Buffalo.

Police have reiterated warnings that anyone found to be assisting Freeman will be prosecuted. Despite the ongoing efforts, there have been no confirmed sightings of Freeman, and the search area may continue to expand as the investigation enters its second week.

Yeah, good evening Hugh. Well police have set up a mobile unit in the town centre of Bright hoping people will come with information and they say so far a number of people have come forward today. There have been a number of searches in the area this morning in Bright but more recently in Wangaratta. That's around an hour away from Porpanka. Police have closed off a number of streets there but are saying they will not comment until they find their person of interest. Yesterday police say someone might be harbouring or helping the fugitive and have made it very clear that anyone caught doing so will be prosecuted. The investigation continues to centre around the property where this tragedy occurred and once again today they sent bearcats in and the chopper was scouring around Mount Buffalo. The longer it goes on the further the expanding search area will have to be but it doesn't mean he's left the area. I think he's been assisted. Most people need to come forward and resolve this sooner than later because ultimately they're going to go to jail too for covering up for someone else's crime. And yes it will be expanding but you'll see that the police have been going back to his premises and other areas. He could be hiding in plain sight and they need to go and recheck those areas in case he's doubling back to try and find an area of safety for himself. Hugh, police are now entering their second week of searching for Desi Freeman and as of right now there have been no confirmed sightings of the alleged gunman.
