A massive Russian attack in Kyiv killed at least 15 people, a city official said. This comes as a potential ceasefire deal fails to garner support from Vladimir Putin.

Kyiv was subjected to more than 20 drone and missile attacks overnight, with air raid sirens sounding for several hours. One missile struck a residential building in the early hours, causing part of the structure to collapse and prompting ongoing rescue efforts. Authorities are attempting to locate approximately ten residents who lived in the affected section, but their whereabouts remain unknown. President Zelensky has condemned the attacks, criticizing Russia for using ballistic weapons instead of pursuing negotiations.

This is one of the more than 20 sites that got hit in the capital overnight. The sirens started yesterday evening and they went through until early this morning. Throughout the night we could hear Ukrainian air defences trying to intercept the drones and the missiles. This one though hit around three o'clock in the morning, ripping through the centre of the building and making the rest of it collapse. You can see the rescue workers are still very much trying to find any survivors. Some of the rubble is still burning and we've been told that the authorities say that around ten people lived in this part of the building. They can't get hold of those people. They're trying to work out whether they're still trapped or whether indeed they weren't in Kiev at the time. But it's still very much a rescue mission. You can see all these trucks coming in to remove the rubble, making it easier for those on the ground. But this was a missile that hit right in the middle of the night when people were sleeping. As I said, more than 20 attacks here in Kiev. President Zelensky has condemned these attacks, saying that Russia prefers ballistics to coming to the negotiating table.
