The surf has remained elevated, with waves exceeding six feet, leading to restricted swimming and limited beach access for visitors.

Local authorities have expressed concern about the risk of coastal flooding, especially with water being pushed up to the dunes and into back bays. Officials are advising tourists and residents to take precautions as the situation continues, with the main focus on ensuring safety amid the challenging conditions.

We're here in Ocean City, NJ, where the concern this week has largely been about the surf. It has been rough all week, but now with Hurricane Aaron offshore, you can see how those waves have really amplified and they remain high through tonight into tomorrow. In fact, Friday we're expecting those waves to say around more than six feet. With height, so that's going to be one of the challenges and why swimming has been more restricted here in Ocean City, NJ for all of the visitors. On top of it, if you are trying to head to the beach, there's not much beach to go to. I mean, just take a look around me. I'm surrounded by water. The water has come in for Hurricane Aaron. It's pushed this water right up to the dune, so there's really no spot to sit on the beach, leaving visitors without the chance to even just throw a ball on the sand. And the concern through this evening will be that risk for coastal flooding. So basically Hurricane Aaron is offshore and in Southern New Jersey in particular, you get a nice wind direction to really lock in the water into the back bays, so we'll find coastal flooding coming from the Bayside forward to these barrier islands that will be challenging tourists. That's been the main concern from the Ocean City officials throughout today into this evening is that they want the visitors to take precautions for the risk of coastal flooding as we go through this evening from Ocean City, NJ.
