A complaint has been made to Whittlesea City Council inquiring into a name change following Andrew Mountbatten Windsor's fall from grace. The council is seeking advice from Geographic Names Victoria which says it will support the council with its application if it decides to proceed with changing the name. Residents are on the fence. It definitely has to be changed because he has disgraced the monarchy and everyone. That reputation is not what our street stands for. That made it a big deal to him and I, I don't know. What's that street got to do with him? He doesn't live in Australia. We want to make sure that we can protect our community and changing a name, at the end of the day, it's a name but it's a step forwards in ensuring that we can protect survivors and victims. Whittlesea Council says it is liaising with the residents who inquired about a name change to discuss next steps. At this stage, a formal renaming process has not commenced. Andrew lost his royal privileges amid ongoing controversy over his relationship with sex offender Geoffrey Epstein. The former prince is accused of sexually assaulting Virginia Dufresne when she was a teenager. Details of the allegations were published in a posthumous memoir titled Nobody's Girl.
