Bringing Tindero from Paris to Warsaw is more than a commercial transaction. It's a cultural event that allows the public to interact with the sculpture on a daily basis and a symbolic return for the artist. Igor Mitoraj was a connoisseur of antiquity, a singer of beauty. He was, above all, the greatest Polish sculptor, who created mainly abroad, but his connections with Poland were still visible. He was a man who brought back to Polish culture this ancient culture. During his time in Germany, he spent his childhood in Poland, near the Auschwitz concentration camp. The Auschwitz concentration camp had a great impact on his work. He also talked about it in interviews. I think everything came together there. This is an example of an artist whose life and work are so inextricably linked. Contemporary artists and critics describe his work as monumental and intimate at the same time. Monumental because they often dominate urban space. Intimate because each of these forms hides silence, reflection and melancholy. Something that brings them closer to religious or philosophical contemplation. I think that Igor Mitoraj created a universe of his sculptures. These sculptures correspond to each other. Very often, in large sculptures, you can see fragments of smaller ones. He also said in interviews that art is supposed to inspire, above all, imagination. His art has become a metaphor for life. On the one hand, monumental. On the other, revealing the fragility of human fate. According to the Polish-Swiss Art Auction House, Tindaro, which stood at Three Crosses Square in early September, will remain in Warsaw.
