A 47-year-old man suffered a broken leg and arm after being struck by a police car during a patrol operation following a terminated pursuit in Dean Park. The police vehicle, operated by a 25-year-old male constable with a 25-year-old female senior constable as passenger, collided with the civilian's car while searching for a suspect vehicle that had earlier evaded a random breath test.

Both officers and the civilian driver were taken to hospital in stable condition. Authorities have launched a critical incident investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash, and police emphasized that the officers were performing their lawful duties at the time.

Earlier, the police vehicle attempted to stop a VW Golf in Dean Park, a suburb over, for a random breath test as part of a weekend operation around 10.15 last night. But when that car failed to stop, a police pursuit began, and 13 minutes later... The pursuit was terminated as a result of the vehicle being lost inside a vision of the police. Then, after a tip-off from the public, police started patrolling the area for the vehicle involved in the pursuit. It ended here, in the middle of the street. Today, authorities left to clean up the mess that was left behind as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. Police vehicle involved in the accident was out doing their job at the time of the accident. They were looking for an offender. Police have to use their powers, their lawful powers, in terms of what they can do in terms of the execution of their role. The two officers and the driver of the Holden all taken to hospital in a stable condition. A critical incident investigation is underway.
