Two other individuals, 19-year-old Ahmad Najee and a 43-year-old man who cannot be named, have also been arrested for their alleged roles in planning and facilitating the murder. Police state that all three suspects have been identified and charged, and investigations are ongoing to determine if others were involved.

As his killer approached, John Versace tried to tell the gunman they had the wrong guy. The 23-year-old tradie died in the driveway of his family home as the shooter took off. The suspected getaway car later found on fire at Fairfield East. That was the last police had seen of the shooter until now, it's alleged. They're confident they've unmasked the killer in this cold-blooded case of mistaken identity with the arrest of 21-year-old Blaise Collins. He's been charged with a number of offences previously and he's also known to associate with organised crime entities. Collins has been charged with murder, accused of pulling the trigger during the ambush. His arrest came days after two others were taken into custody. 19-year-old Ahmad Najee is accused of assisting in the planning and preparation of the murder, allegedly staging cars prior to the shooting, while a 43-year-old man who can't be named for legal reasons allegedly drove the shooter to and from the murder scene. We'll look at all aspects of this murder. As I said, the three persons that were involved have been identified and charged. We'll see if there's any further persons that have been involved on the periphery. Police will allege Blaise Collins is a member of the street gang G7. He made no application for bail today and remains behind bars, along with his co-accused. There is nothing at all to suggest that Mr Versace was anything but a hard-working young man living at home with his family. He was much loved and trying to set himself up for the rest of his life.
