So it's absolutely grotesque that this has been allowed to go ahead, that our government not just allows it to go ahead, they sponsor this. Defence industries are a big part of our export base. We want to grow that part of the economy. The Palestine Action Group says its protest was peaceful before pepper spray was used on the crowd and 13 were put in handcuffs. Police did not go out with an intent to use force this morning. We were set upon by a pack of very angry protesters. A bucket of paint was picked up and thrown at police. Just before midday demonstrators announced that they would take their protest through the streets of Sydney, chanting one message, more criminals aren't welcome here.
