Over the past year, police have conducted 6,000 stops at approximately 600 car meets, issuing significant fines to drivers and spectators, and making arrests when necessary.

Recent actions include raids on residences believed to be linked to event organizers, with police seizing electronic devices used for coordination. Authorities are working with regional partners and have warned that vehicles involved may be impounded and insurance companies notified. Despite these measures, police report that such gatherings continue to occur, with repeat offenders facing serious charges.

New arrests and what police call illegal car meetups happening across Philadelphia. Police say they got word of a planned event as soon as this weekend. Our Steve Keeley is live at police headquarters and Steve, how's the search today? Well I've been talking to sources since last night on this and they tipped me off that they had good intel that there was a huge car meet planned after midnight tonight and so they've had 600 car meets just in the past year or so. They've made 6,000 stops of people at these things and written big fines. $6,000 for one guy who got fined three different times. $2,000 fines for drivers to show up at these things and if you're one of these spectators that you see with their phones you get now arrested and charged and that's a $300 spectator fine. Now let's run video. This is video. We were with police as they hit two houses of two brothers on two sides of the city. This one on North 8th Street. They had search warrants and arrest warrants and what they're looking for are the electronic devices that these two that police describe as organizers of car meets use to talk to everybody and say when and where the car meet's going to happen and they often use things like playstations and I also went to the other house all the way on 73rd Avenue at the far end of the city near Cheltenham and I met a woman who's the ex-girlfriend of one of the men they were looking for and until I met her she said she thought her house was burglarized because her son's playstation and her daughter's phone were taken and their place was ransacked. They even took the ring camera and police didn't leave them a note what happened so here is some of what police told us and here's what this lovely young woman named Marisol told me about her house being hit by the police when she didn't even know it was the cops. We know you're coming out this weekend. Stay out of the city. We're ready for you. From one end of the city to the other, all of our regional partners, they've all been notified. Our friends over in Jersey, across the river, our state police partners and all the Calercones. If you come, we're going to grab you. We're going to take your cars. It's going to sit in one of our lots and rot. PBA is going to get them for us. Stay out of the city. Like find something more productive to do more productive to do and oh by the way as the inspector said we know we might not get you that night. You might just be a spectator but when we get your car information it's going to the insurance company so you're welcome if your insurance rates have gone up. Knowing that it was a search warrant with cops, I'm not so scared to stay here because I was ready to move like yeah I'm thinking it was you know burglary. I was terrified. And the police didn't leave any information? No nothing on the door nothing. So back here at headquarters police think these guys quote are dumb enough and are brazen enough to challenge cops even though the police are waiting for them to come. They see that as a challenge detectives believe and fully expect the car meet to happen somewhere on some intersection here in the city starting after midnight tonight. So we'll have a full report right around that time if the game goes that long Dawn but this problem is not getting bad but it's still getting worse in some sections of the city according to police as these guys don't care. We had one guy in court this morning he was facing charges from the last big car meet last year almost a week to the day and he got charged again with another car meet even though he was at on bail facing some serious charges like riot and everything else. So these guys just don't get it police say. That's what happens tonight we'll see you in a bit thank you.
