Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has led the tributes today to Graeme Richardson, describing him as a loyal friend while not overly being sentimental about it. Now, former Liberal Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Tony Abbott, former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, former New South Wales Premier Bob Carr, current Premier of New South Wales and National Senator as well, Bridget McKenzie, among the many who have all paid their respects. Now, it's understood Graeme Richardson had become sick with the flu in September before it turned into pneumonia, which saw him being taken to hospital yesterday afternoon. Now, as we know, Graeme Richardson has had his fair share of health battles, but he made one promise to his family. I wanted to stick around to see Darcy. His son, their son, conclude his schooling and Darcy had his last exam on yesterday afternoon at five o'clock and Graeme passed away in the early hours of this morning. But he was, to me, a great mentor and a very close friend, as he was to so many. He is, by any measure, a Labor giant and a Labor hero.
