Two Palestinian brothers, Shamik and Majed Badra, reported being assaulted and subjected to racist abuse while travelling on a Sydney train after participating in a peaceful pro-Palestine march. The brothers allege they were targeted for wearing a Palestinian scarf and were verbally and physically attacked by a group, who continued to follow them after they exited the train.

The incident was reported to police, with video footage provided as evidence. Authorities are currently reviewing the footage and working to identify those involved. The brothers have described the incident as a hate crime and called for accountability and justice.

The group subjected them to a tirade of vile abuse. Racist! This is a strike! You're all getting free money, you f***ing losers! Fearing for their safety, the men exited the train at the next stop. After we left, he chased us, followed us and tried to follow us at the platform. The brothers believe the perpetrators had been at the March for Australia rally earlier that day. A racist hate crime, as Shamik has said, and this is an attack on all Palestinians in Australia. It's an attack on all immigrants, on migrants and people of colour in this country. Shamik says he immediately reported the incident to police and provided officers with his video footage. Investigators are now reviewing that vision and working to identify everyone who was involved.
