The new Terminal 1 is set to officially open at San Diego International Airport Tuesday.

San Diego International Airport has officially launched its new Terminal 1, concluding a four-year construction project. The new terminal features 30 gates, 30 new restaurants, and a new parking plaza, replacing the old Terminal 1, which closed after its final flight departed.

The first arrival at the new terminal was a flight from Hawaii, with passengers greeted by applause and small gifts. All Terminal 1 flights will now operate from the new facility, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the opening.

I think so many people here in San Diego have been looking forward to. I mean, you weren't even living in San Diego when they started this. No, I mean, four years ago where they broke ground and now we are finally here and I've been looking forward to it. I had a flight this past weekend and I was like just a few days off from it. And now that it's here, we have that excitement coming. A lot of people were excited with the tour with over 5000 people coming. Now we want to show you some of the first passengers that arrived last night. The first flight came in from Hawaii and the flyers were told right before they touched down that they were making history at the airport as the first flight coming into terminal one. And you could just see the smiles on their face as they left the gate. They were met with big applause. They were given small gifts. It really was like a party for this exciting moment and for the passengers. It was a pretty nice surprise. You're just in Hawaii talking about how this one's I fly all the time how this one's opening. And yeah, it's just like yesterday talking about this. So the fact that we landed here, I didn't know it was opening. So this is all very cool. Loving it. I had no idea that we were totally surprised when we got here and we're here. We made it back home. And of course, while it's new, there's a lot to be excited about the terminal 30 gates, there's 30 new restaurants, the new parking plaza and the old terminal one closed last night and the last flight took off around nine o'clock and the passengers on those last few flights, they're ready for this next chapter history. It's sad but bittersweet. I think it's it's time. I mean, it's been here forever and I guess you just need new new thing. And starting today, all terminal one flights at San Diego International will take place at the new facility and there's a ribbon cutting today at 10 30 to mark the official opening
