Authorities have confirmed that these groups are under constant monitoring, and a recent lapse in communication about protest details led to apologies and commitments for improved information sharing among officials.

In response, the NSW government plans to introduce new legislation aimed at strengthening hate speech and protest laws, seeking bipartisan support to clearly reject Nazi ideology. The opposition has also proposed measures to ban non-religious face coverings at protests and to shift policing costs to event organizers, with political debate on these issues expected to intensify in the remaining parliamentary sessions.

But it's the management of them that police and the government continue to come under fire for. Was she asleep at the wheel yet again, or did she have her stages in place? We are constantly monitoring the activities of these groups. Raising questions about why he didn't share details of the protest with his boss, leaving senior ministers in the dark as a result. They have apologised, and I have accepted that apology, and we will absolutely make sure that if that group puts in another Form 1, that I will be advised, Mr Speaker. As for whether current hate speech and protest laws are sufficient... We stand by them, and we are improving on them. Legislation will be introduced to the Parliament next week. We will be asking for the House's bipartisan, multi-partisan support in order to send a clear and unambiguous message that Nazis are not welcome in New South Wales. But the opposition has flagged its intention to reintroduce its own plan to crack down on protests, which would see a ban on non-religious face coverings used to conceal identity, as well as to shift the cost of policing them onto organisers. With two sitting weeks left, it's sure to be a fiery end to the political year. And we should be working together to oppose neo-Nazism in the community.
