A group of 50 neo-Nazis coming from the March for Australia rally have targeted an Indigenous site in Melbourne, attacking female activists in the area.

A group of neo-Nazis launched an attack on Camp Sovereignty at Kings Domain in Melbourne, using metal pipes, flagpoles, and physical force. The attackers targeted women, with one woman sustaining serious injuries that required hospital treatment. The incident followed a rally in the city, and self-professed neo-Nazi Thomas Sewell was accused of being present, though he disputed the events. 

Victorian authorities condemned the attack, with the Deputy Premier expressing outrage at the actions of the group. Victoria Police have begun an investigation, with twelve people arrested during the related rally and seven expected to be charged. No arrests have been made directly in connection with the Camp Sovereignty attack.

Storming uphill, a group of neo-Nazis launches an attack on Camp Sovereignty at Kings Domain, shouting war cries as members try to tear down the sign to the sacred land. Armed with metal pipes, flagpoles and fists, stomping on the Aboriginal flag and targeting women. One woman hit and kicked repeatedly. She was taken to hospital where she was kept for almost 24 hours after requiring staples and stitches to the back of her head. Of course it was scary, but it's going to take more than a kick or two in the guts for us to back down. I think I'm lucky to be here. If they had a gut hold of me, who knows? The men had attended the March for Australia rally in the CBD. Self-professed neo-Nazi Thomas Sewell is accused of being there, despite recalling a different turn of events. And these communists, they'd formed up on this hill, I think it's called Camp Sovereign, and they descended down about 50 or 60 at a time and they beat these people very badly. Where were the police at that time? There's a group of armed people walking around. Why weren't they monitored? Both the Premier and the Police Minister didn't front cameras today, despite repeated requests. Instead, it was up to the Deputy Premier to condemn the actions of Nazi sympathisers. I was appalled to see the attack on Camp Sovereignty. It just goes to show the level of ignorance that we're dealing with. Victoria Police says it's investigating the incident. Twelve people were arrested yesterday during the rally. Seven are expected to be charged. No arrests have been made from Camp Sovereignty. Jessica Maggio, 10 News.
