The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a tropical wave spinning in the eastern Atlantic near Africa. Conditions could become favorable for slow development, and a tropical depression or storm could develop later this week or next weekend as it moves west across the Atlantic.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical wave that has recently moved off the coast of Africa. The system currently has a 40% chance of developing over the next seven days, but any potential impact on the United States would be at least 10 to 12 days away, if it occurs at all.

Meteorologists emphasize that the system could still turn out to sea and that it will take time for the disturbance to organize. Forecast models indicate the wave may move west toward the islands, but its exact path remains uncertain and will be closely monitored.

And it makes its way westbound here towards the islands, but does it take that turn to the north? That's something we'll watch.
