More than 200 media publications from around the world are taking part in a campaign to highlight Israel's murder of journalists. 
News sites, magazines, online platforms and papers have blacked out their front pages. They're calling on Israel to stop targeting journalists and let foreign media into Gaza.

Over 250 media outlets from around the world have joined together in a coordinated protest against the killing of journalists in Gaza, with actions ranging from black banners to editorial pauses. The campaign, organised by Reporters Without Borders, Avaaz, and the International Federation of Journalists, aims to draw attention to the high rate of journalist deaths in the conflict and the resulting threat to independent reporting.

The organisers warn that continued violence against journalists, particularly Palestinian media workers, risks leaving the world without reliable information from Gaza. With international media barred from entering the area, the protest asserts that the targeting of journalists constitutes an attack on journalism itself and threatens the public's access to unbiased news.

From Asia to Africa, Europe to the Americas, across the world on Monday, newspapers, websites and broadcasters united in protest. Never before, say the organisers, have so many news providers come together in this way. Many of the participating organisations are small, but several are more well known. El Pais newspaper from Spain, NPR, the United States national public radio station. In the UK, the independent newspaper headquartered in this building behind me. At least 260 of them in total. Al Jazeera, which has had so many of its journalists killed by Israel, is one of them. Whether displaying black banners, editorials or pausing programming, the message we all want as many eyes as possible to see is this. At the rate journalists are being killed in Gaza by the Israeli army, there will soon be no one left to keep you informed. The action has been coordinated by Reporters Without Borders, campaign group Avaaz and the International Federation of Journalists. More than 200, 250 media outlets have decided to participate in this major global campaign and I thank them for that, but I'm not saying that this will solve everything, this will solve all, but we must show the citizens of this world that without journalists in Gaza, there will soon be no more information about the war, only Israeli propaganda. Israel's war on Gaza has been the single deadliest conflict for journalists by a huge margin. Five journalists were killed two weeks ago in a double strike on Nasser Hospital. With Israel barring international media from entering Gaza, it's Palestinian media workers dying in the hundreds. And this, so the organisers of this protest, amounts to a war on journalism itself, to stop the truth getting out, so Israel can carry on doing what it's doing in the dark.
