The minute that I started walking towards my door, people were kind of coming over to get rentals, get, you know, boogie boards, get surfboards. He says business this summer has been slow, but with a warm holiday weekend, things are quickly picking back up. Skyler says they're on track to beat last year's Labor Day sales. Now we're getting like the influx of people from just about everywhere, all of our surrounding states. It's the same trend for the bikini shop next door before the pandemic. It was always like super, super busy and I've definitely seen that decline in the past years. Like Camels, they're seeing an upward trend and folks coming in and for sales associate Ava Strouth, it stirs up a bit of nostalgia. Yesterday I was working and it was packed outside like there were tons of people. It was honestly one of the most crowded days I've seen like since I work here, which was pretty exciting. Hamels and the bikini shop are just a small portion of the businesses in Mission Beach that rely on tourism and they're hoping to keep the momentum going well past the holiday.
