Enter the basement now and all you'll see are concrete floors and wood beams developing mold that still need to be gutted. With insurance denying their claim, the family has started a go fund me as they rebuild difficult. You just have to find the time and the help. You know, it's it's hard to get help. They're now hoping some of that help will come from Washington, D. C. With FEMA set to visit the area and survey damages on Thursday, Daris is hoping impacted families like hers will eventually get some relief. It's a lot of people out here. We need we really need some help. You know, I just try to stay prayerful hopeful and positive. The process starts with the agency visiting flooded areas to validate damage and gather information. After that, if the governor requests a major disaster declaration and that request is approved by the president, FEMA will be able to provide what's called individual assistance, which disaster victims can apply for. That assistance can be anything from funds for temporary housing to basic home repairs and replacement of damaged items. A lot of us out here that really is impacted by this. This has really changed us. While Thursday's visit is only the first step in the process of potentially getting federal assistance, Daris and her family are gearing up for a long road of recovering what they've lost months, maybe a year.
