The Weather Channel reports that the Mid-Atlantic region, including Virginia, is expected to experience extremely heavy snowfall over the weekend. Major highways such as I-81 and I-95 are likely to face significant disruptions due to snow accumulations that could reach two feet or more in some areas.

Snowfall is forecast to begin on Saturday, intensifying into Saturday night and continuing through Sunday. The storm system is expected to move out of the region late Sunday, with lingering effects in New England and some coastal areas into early Monday.

We're talking extremely heavy snowfall to two feet or more in some cases. Again, watching the overall plan, looking at the timing. Saturday, things start to come in. We're talking the snowfall gets heavier and heavier, especially going into Saturday night. That's when the heaviest snow comes through. Sunday could be a situation where we get snow all day long on top of what we've gotten overnight. And then eventually this whole system will try and push out of here late in the day on Sunday, lingering up here in New England as we head into early Monday and maybe some of our coastal areas as well.
