A man was arrested in Chula Vista after he was recorded throwing a hammer through the passenger side window of a police patrol car. The incident occurred while two officers were stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Brisbane Street and 4th Avenue. The hammer shattered the window, causing minor cuts to one of the officers from the broken glass. The police department shared video footage of the attack on social media. The suspect was booked on suspicion of assault on a peace officer.
