Both U.S. and Nigeria have sovereignty, and that word exists for a reason. I do not see the reason why Donald Trump, a president of the United States, will be drumming the drums of war over Nigeria for things that are really not founded. Trump on Friday said Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria, and radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. He also threatened to send in the U.S. troops. The thing is that when he sends down the soldiers, there's too much killings in this country. We need help. When the soldiers come, they will help us. At least it will help with the stealing and the fulani-hardsmen that are killing us in this country. The farmers cannot go to their farms because of the killings. That's why things are expensive. But if the soldiers are sent, they will help us. While Christians are among those targeted, some analysts say they do not believe it is enough to be tagged a genocide. There isn't a Christian genocide per se, but if this thing continues on about it, if it is not nipped in the bud, the population of Christians will drastically reduce. That is just a fact. Because if you go, the Christian minorities in the north, they are scared of actually showing or displaying their faith in the open, because they feel they are endangered. Nigeria has long faced insecurity from various fronts, including the Boko Haram extremist group, which seeks to establish its radical interpretation of Islamic law.

There has been a sharp escalation in bloodshed in the conflict since Rapid Support Forces fighters captured the city of al-Fashir.
