The Greens are backing changes to gun laws, ensuring they pass tonight, setting up a national buy-back scheme, stronger background checks and import restrictions. A cheap political diversion that is not facing up to the real problem in this country, which is radical Islamists. The Coalition arguing it demonises farmers and sporting shooters. And I say to those people, these changes are not targeted at you. The Prime Minister today needed to be seen taking action on anti-Semitism. The opposition leader couldn't be seen standing in the way. But that was the extent of any unity. Will you apologise to Jewish Australians because you and your government did not listen? Both the hate speech and gun reforms are set to become law by 10.30 tonight, with the government having shored up the numbers in the Senate. The Prime Minister recalled Parliament today specifically to toughen up laws in response to the Bondi terror attack.
