Originally premiered in 1978 at the Wuppertal Opera, 'Kontakthof' is recognized as a landmark of Bausch's early period and is known for its innovative portrayal of human relationships. The production continues to tour, often including diverse age groups among its cast.

Kontekhoff, one of the emblematic works of Pina Beusch, the German choreographer who decisively influenced the form and content of contemporary dance, has been presented at the National Theatre in Athens. Thirty-seven years after its first presentation in Greece, the work is now a production featuring exclusively Greek performers aged 21 to 55. By the time we got to Kontekhoff, which was 1978, we had already done a lot of revolutionary pieces, many danced operas. We have had the tomatoes, people walking out from the public, slamming doors. I was there in that time, so slowly, slowly, by the time we did Kontekhoff, people were not leaving. She had become rather well-known, like inside a cult figure with her new way of working, non-dancing. The woman herself was so beautiful, first of all when she was younger. She was able to manipulate, her ideas were unique. I was able to give them to her and we were able to form and shape certain pieces with very human daily lives of people. Her work was always interesting for me and I loved all the music that she put into the pieces. She was a genius, yeah. In 2002, Daphnis Karkonos became Pino Bosch's assistant. Kontekhoff was first performed in 1978 at the Wuppertal Opera and is a landmark of Pino Bosch's early period. For me, it is a place of meeting, of 23 people, who are presented in a way, as a dance, seeking human contact. They are figures of all of our lives and all of our existence, through the eyes of Pino Bosch, and I think that this is happening to those who are watching it. For me, it is a place of freedom. It is like seeing a micrograph of a society. I often feel that I am in a village with all of these good and bad moments of a closed world, let's say, which here goes from the smallest to the largest. The play is on tour, often including different age groups of performers.
