North Korean leader Kim Jong-un stated he maintains positive memories of his meetings with former U.S. President Donald Trump and indicated a willingness to engage in further discussions with the United States. However, Kim emphasized that any talks would require Washington to abandon its demand for North Korea to relinquish its nuclear weapons. 

Addressing Pyongyang's parliament, Kim made clear he has no intention of resuming dialogue with South Korea. The comments come as South Korean President Lee Jae-myung prepares to address nuclear tensions at the United Nations General Assembly, and as Donald Trump is expected to visit South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un says he still has good memories of previous meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump, and suggested he is open to further talks. However, he urged Washington to drop its demand that the country surrenders its nuclear weapons. Speaking to Pyongyang's parliament on Sunday, Kim also stressed that he has no intention of ever resuming dialogue with rival South Korea. The North Korean leader's comments came as his South Korean counterpart Lee Jae-myung will travel to New York for the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. At the summit, the South Korean leader will also address nuclear tensions on the Korean Peninsula and call on North Korea to return to talks.
