The protests, occurring in cities including West Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tel Aviv, are a response to ongoing frustrations with Netanyahu's handling of the conflict in Gaza, which has been ongoing for nearly nine months. A protester appealed to the Prime Minister to give negotiation teams the flexibility needed to secure the release of captives.

Protesters blocked roads and faced violent police responses, highlighting a familiar scene in ongoing demonstrations. It's been nearly nine months since Israel's war on Gaza began, and demonstrators say they're fed up with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government. Anti-government protests took over the country on Saturday night in cities like West Jerusalem, Haifa and Tel Aviv. I'm calling and even begging from this stage, the Prime Minister and cabinet members, you must not miss the opportunity to bring back David and the other 119 hostages. Mr Prime Minister, give the negotiation team room to manoeuvre and return with a deal and bring everybody back home. And a familiar scene. Protesters blocking roads and met with violence from police. And deployment of water cannons to clear the area. This isn't the government that represents us, that Bibi Netanyahu doesn't represent us, and that we want change, we want to vote again, we want new leadership. This week's protests come on the backdrop of restarting negotiations for a ceasefire deal. On Friday, the chief of Israel's intelligence agency Mossad returned from a meeting in Doha, and Netanyahu's office confirmed a negotiating team would be dispatched this week for continued talks, but stressed that there are still gaps between Israel and Hamas's positions. Nine months into Israel's war on Gaza, Netanyahu's government is under immense pressure to secure a ceasefire deal.
