Students face significant barriers to continuing their education, with closed borders making it nearly impossible to study abroad and damaged internet infrastructure hindering online learning. Educators describe the situation as 'scholasticide,' with nearly 90,000 students unable to pursue their academic goals as campuses are destroyed and access to professors and classrooms is lost.

Where knowledge once thrived, thousands now struggle just to survive. Families sleep where students once studied. Books meant to expand minds now fuel stoves. I passed my high school exam successfully, but what comes next? There is no university left in Gaza. Universities here have either been destroyed or turned into shelters for displaced families. I want to continue my studies, but where can I go? I even reached out to my relatives in Egypt to register at a university abroad, but they said it's nearly impossible as long as the borders remain closed. What am I supposed to do? For Samir and tens of thousands like him, the path to higher education has been blocked at every turn. Even online learning is under siege. Repeated bombardments have damaged internet lines, cutting off students from virtual classrooms and leaving their studies suspended indefinitely. Educators call it scholasticide, the systematic erasure of education, the deliberate killing of knowledge. And with every destroyed campus, a generation is stripped not only of learning, but of hope itself. Al-Aqsa University's branches in Gaza have been critically affected by the ongoing war. As the largest public university in Gaza, it serves more than 25,000 students. The university administration quickly formed an emergency committee to implement distance e-learning to provide students with access to classes. Scholasticide has left nearly 90,000 students stranded at the gates of higher education, their certificates in hand, with no classrooms, no professors, no chance to dream beyond survival. This was once a university, a place where young minds could dream and plan their futures. Now, it's a shelter, a symbol of lost opportunities.
