Demonstrators gathered outside the Canopy by Hilton hotel, where they believe ICE agents are staying, making noise with instruments and marching to various locations to voice their opposition to the immigration crackdown.

The protest, described as largely peaceful, has seen fluctuating crowd sizes as groups move between hotels and other downtown sites. Police have maintained a presence, but there have been no reported clashes. The demonstration remains fluid, with no clear plan or set destination as participants continue to express their demands.

Good evening and thanks for joining us tonight on Fox 9 and Fox Local. I'm Karen Scullin. We do start with breaking news as an anti ice protest in downtown Minneapolis continues to grow. The group has been outside a hotel where they believe ice agents are staying. Protests, of course, have been going on all week after an ice agent shot and killed a woman on Wednesday. Fox nine's Maury Glover joins us live now from the scene with what's happening right now. Maury. Well, Karen, we are in the parking ramp right next to the canopy hotel downtown Minneapolis because we wanted to give you a little different perspective on the crowd that is gathered here. As you can see, there are people gathered, making noise, playing instruments, banging on pots and pans outside the hotel. They're trying to disturb, make a huge disturbance because they believe ice agents are staying at that hotel. Now they're calling this an ice out of Minnesota. No noise and protest demonstration. And like I mentioned, protesters have instruments, drums, tubas, trumpets, whistles, all in an effort to make as much noise as possible outside the hotel where they believe that federal agents have been staying during this immigration crackdown, and they say there will be no peace until those agents leave. Now, a group of about 100 or more broke off from this group and marched around downtown, uh, gathering outside another hotel for a number of minutes and then wound up circling back and rejoining this group. For the most part, this demonstration has been peaceful. We have seen police here and there, but so far we haven't seen any clashes between police and the demonstrators. Again, most of the people have remained relatively calm, but they just say they're just trying to make as much noise as possible to disturb who they believe places where they believe ice agents are staying during this immigration crackdown, and they believe that this is their way to voice their displeasure with the crackdown and what's going on in Minneapolis. Now, these demonstrators have been outside and down here in Minneapolis, downtown Minneapolis. For the last few hours, just a few minutes ago, the crowd actually was filling the intersection here at Park and Third Street South. But given the fluid nature of what's been going on, they marched off to another location and we haven't seen them since. Of course, the crowd has been waxing and waning, growing and then getting smaller as the evening has gone on. As the group has marched to different locations. But of course, Karen will continue to monitor the situation and bring anything else. If anything happens, Karen and Maury, we had some chopper video live chopper video just a few moments ago. It appears that crowd has moved to a different location, but they don't seem to really have any kind of a direction from what I can tell. Have you gotten any word like when they leave, where they're going or where they're ending up? Um, it seems like it's kind of changing as the night goes on. Well, they that group did go outside the renaissance by Marriott Hotel over by the depot and they were outside that place for a while and we got word that there was another group maybe gathering outside U. S. Bank Stadium. But no, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. The group just kind of fluid walking around. They leave for a while, then come back, rejoin the other group, then take off again. Not sure if they have a designated plan of where they want to go, but that's what we've been seeing so far here tonight.
