The facility, run by the state of Florida under the 287G program, can hold up to 5,000 people and typically processes detainees within two weeks. Sheen noted that about half of the detainees opt for self-deportation, facilitated by programs that offer expedited travel and financial support. The discussion highlighted differing perspectives on the facility's conditions and the standards applied to its operation.

toward what is known as Alligator Alcatraz. That is a newly opened site in the Florida Everglades for illegal aliens. Congressman Debbie Wasserman Schultz from Florida says the facility needs to be shut down. What we saw, the conditions that we saw inside this internment camp, which it is nothing less than that description, were really appalling. These detainees are living in cages. The pictures that you've seen don't do it justice. They are essentially packed into cages, wall-to-wall humans, 32 detainees per cage. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem disagrees with Wasserman Schultz's comments. On Sunday, Secretary Noem said this on Meet the Press. Our detention centers at the federal level are held to a higher standard than most local or state centers and even federal prisons. The standards are extremely high. Now, this is a state-run facility at Alligator Alcatraz. More than 30 people stuffed into a jail cell? They have a contrast. Well, I've been there, and I've seen these rooms that they are in. I wouldn't call them jail cells. I would call them a facility where they are held and that are secure facilities but are held to the highest levels of what the federal government requires for detention facilities. ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheen joins me. Nice to see you again. It's good to see you. I heard Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz's comments about the facility in Florida, in the Everglades. And I'm an old criminal defense lawyer. I've been to jails and prisons all across the country. I don't know what this one's like, but I have to tell you, the Fulton County Jail in Alabama has maggots and dead bodies that they leave for days. And they've got toilets ripped off the walls. So I don't know what this place is like, but I wish some of these members of Congress would visit our own state facilities because they are so incredibly disgusting and horrible and unconstitutional in my mind. Having said that, have you been to Alligator Alcatraz? So our whole team has visited. Secretary Nome has visited. So has President Trump. And to expand on what Secretary Nome already said, not only are federal detention standards much higher than state and local, ICE has some of the highest detention standards in the country, to point that some state and locals have a hard time meeting our standards because they are so high. And I think what you're seeing is just the classic relationship with the Democrats winning better standards for criminally illegal aliens than they do the American people. Well, there's Fulton County Jails. And I've pounded every administration on it, and the Biden administration in particular, because it's so disgraceful and disgusting. All right, do they get, how's the food? Is the food, I mean, if you have a particular religion, do you get the food that's consistent with your diet, with your religion? They do that in federal prisons. Absolutely, and the state of Florida is running this facility through our 287G program, allowing them to have this delegated authority, and allowing them to be able to run this facility how they see fit. And they are following all those standards in line with ICE's standards. If you want to leave, if you're held there, can you self-deport? I mean, is there any, like suppose I've been there now for a month and I don't like it, and I wanna go home to whatever my home country is. Can I go home? They have the option to self-deport. We'll work with them to make sure that their case goes through the proper channels. We'll use the CBP Home app, which is the opportunity to get a flight home, as well as the $1,000 stipend to be able to get them home. And we actively offer this in not only the detention center of Alligator, Alcatraz, but we offer it at almost every other detention center nationwide. All right, if I'm there and I wanna go home tonight, and I tell you I wanna self-deport, when are you gonna get me out of there? By tomorrow morning. That fast to go home to another country? Yes, ma'am. And you take me to the country, my home country, not gonna take me all Salvador to that prison, are you? No, you're gonna go home to your home country, and you're gonna get a stipend once you get there. Have you had any people leave? Absolutely, we offer the program every single day. Our detention officers will go through working with the state of Florida to offer these stipends or these opportunities to self-deport, and we're seeing people take it at a roughly 50% take rate. Well, so what's the capacity now? What's the census in there about? So it's a capacity that can go up to about 5,000 people, and it's a daily influx. Averagely, they stay in the facility for about two weeks, if they're even in that facility that long. So we're seeing aliens move through the facility relatively quickly, and then the self-deportations are helping with that, as well as working with DOJ through the immigration hearing process.
