Hurricane Gabrielle intensified to a Category 3 on Monday, but it is not currently expected to make landfall. CBS News meteorologist Rob Marciano has the latest forecast.

Hurricane Gabrielle has rapidly intensified to a Category 3 storm in the Atlantic Ocean and is currently less than 200 miles from Bermuda. However, meteorologists expect the hurricane to change course and not pose a threat to the island. 

Elsewhere, severe storms have affected parts of North Texas, causing hail and wind damage near Dallas, and have the potential to bring damaging winds and heavy rainfall to areas in the Ohio River Valley and the Plains. A minor earthquake was also reported in Berkeley, California, with no significant injuries or damage.

We turn now to weather, severe storms hammered parts of North Texas yesterday, dropping hail up to the size of ping pong balls, as powerful winds ripped down walls and part of a warehouse roof near Dallas. CBS News meteorologist Rob Marciano is tracking two storm systems across the eastern half of the country. Rob, good morning. Hey, good morning, Tony. Let's start with the west, because if you live in the East Bay, you felt a little bit of rumble overnight last night. 4.3 earthquake in Berkeley, California. No big reports of any sort of injuries or damage there. That's the good news, but it's certainly a rude way to wake in the middle of the night. All right, here are storms that got through Dallas yesterday. 60 mile an hour winds in Denton doing that damage. We had a severe thunderstorm warning early this morning in Wisconsin, and now the potential for seeing some severe weather across the Ohio River Valley, including parts of Cincinnati later on this afternoon and tonight. Damaging winds possible there. These get to the New York area by tomorrow afternoon. Reset the stage for tomorrow and probably a little bit more in the way of activity here across the plains here, Lincoln to Des Moines. Could see some thunderstorms that could produce some damage, maybe even some tornadoes as we head towards Little Rock, and a lot of rain with this, anywhere from four to seven inches of rainfall as we go through the next 48 hours, so could see some flooding with that. Finally, rapidly intensifying Hurricane Gabrielle, now a Category 3 storm, and less than 200 miles away from Bermuda, but we do expect it to peel off and not be a threat to Bermuda.
