A multi-day stormy pattern in the Southeast could lead to several inches of rain.

The Southeast United States is experiencing a period of intense heat and humidity, with extreme heat warnings issued along the Mississippi River Valley and heat advisories covering much of the region. Residents are advised to exercise caution, particularly around water, due to the challenging weather conditions. 

Thunderstorms are forecast to develop, with severe storms expected to move through parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas. The stormy pattern is anticipated to continue into the Gulf Coast states and Louisiana, bringing slow-moving, scattered thunderstorms and the potential for multiple inches of rain in North Florida, South Georgia, and the Carolinas over the coming days.

Hot, humid and stormy in the Southeast

Well, the heat is on for sure. Look at all these heat alerts here. We have extreme heat warnings in that deep purple magenta color up and down the Mississippi River Valley heat advisories to step down from that for most of the southeast and other areas. It's a pretty unpleasant time here regarding heat if you're not near the water. But again, aligned with the story we just showed you and shared be especially careful around the water. There's a lot that can go wrong if kids aren't properly supervised. Now we do have a lot of heat out there. Showers and thunderstorms will be with us over the next few days, but the heat and humidity will be relentless. There will be some strong thunderstorms on Thursday coming out of that front. It'll be southbound Thursday evening, pushing into southern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. So the Carolinas will step into that severe weather risk as well. And beyond that area, even into the Gulf Coast states and west into Louisiana on Friday, slow moving, scattered thunderstorms. Now, as we step into that Friday through the weekend time frame, there will be a weak area of low pressure that begins to kind of meander around basically on the tail of our front and the front is going to stall across this area. And you can see these extra areas of showers and storms that begin to congeal. So strong thunderstorms near the front on Friday. That's about as far south as this front will ever make it. And then we're gonna be watching a really stormy pattern breakout here for the Carolinas, North Florida, South Georgia through the weekend, and we could see multiple inches of rain during this next several days here. Tips will hedge downward just a little bit.
