Heavy rains have battered northern China in the past few days. A year's worth of rain in the capital in this time has led to widespread floods. President Xi Jinping has urged all-out efforts to ensure the safety of people and property. With more rains expected in the coming days, authorities issued the highest-level flood alert on Monday, urging people to stay indoors.
