Good evening, everyone, and thank you for joining us. We begin with breaking news. Another mass shooting in this country. At least two people have been killed, eight others critically wounded, and a shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Tonight, the gunman remains at large. It happened as students were taking final exams. Right now, the Ivy League campus is on lockdown. CBS News reporter Logan Hall is on the scene for us tonight. Logan, what's the latest? Jerica, it's still an active situation here, and no shooter is in custody. A shelter-in-place order is still in effect for the greater Brown University area. Panic people ran toward police with their arms in the air as SWAT teams fanned out across the Brown University campus. They seemed urgent. They were driving really fast. I was confused. I was like, what's happening? Local officials say first reports of shots fired came in just after 4 p.m., and police were dispatched to an engineering and physical education center. Police responded to an engineering and physics building that has classrooms and labs where students were taking their final exam. Our officers responded, and as they are trained to do, entered that building immediately and began searching for a suspect. Preliminarily, all we have is a suspect that was a male dressed in black. Francis Doyle is the university's provost. Most of our buildings, after hours, are card-swiped, but since there was a final exam, there was probably a lot of traffic. The university has more than 7,300 undergrads and about 3,000 graduate students. Law enforcement says multiple people were transported to nearby hospitals. We are a week and a half away from Christmas, and two people died today, and another eight are in the hospital, so please pray for those families. That's okay. Yeah, that's all right. Yeah, so am I. I'm in a real life situation. Now, Jerica, this is still a very active situation here, and police say they know how this man left the building. Local, state, and the FBI and ATF are investigating.
