Originally conceived as an interactive YouTube video, the project evolved into a Flash game before becoming a full-fledged video game. Scallon emphasizes that no musical experience is required to enjoy the game, and while fans of his channel will recognize certain references, the game is designed to appeal to a broad audience, including those who simply enjoy RPGs or music.

Instead of collecting swords and shields, you collect musical instruments and musical gear and you battle with riffs. The game was born out of ideas from Rob Scallon's YouTube channel, which boasts over two and a half million subscribers. I am a provider of light-hearted, fun music times on YouTube. It was originally, eight years ago, going to be an extension of just a YouTube video. I had made a lot of really fun, like choose-your-own-adventure videos, where the video would end and then you would click on the next video to choose what you were going to do. That progressed into a Flash game, eventually going into full game development. You don't need to have any musical talent or ever played an instrument to enjoy this game. You also don't need to know about me or my channel. People that have been around following the channel are going to love the easter eggs that are in it and they're going to recognize the characters and the songs. But if you're just someone who likes RPGs, this is going to be great. Or someone who just enjoys music, which I hope is everyone. I think it can appeal to anybody.
