French Prime Minister François Bayrou has conducted a series of meetings with party leaders across the political spectrum in an attempt to secure backing before a key no-confidence vote in parliament. Most opposition groups have already committed to voting against his government, and divisions are emerging among his own allies, particularly over his unpopular 2026 budget plan.

Far-right National Rally leader Jordan Bardella has reaffirmed his party's opposition and called for snap elections. Unless there is a significant shift in support, Bayrou is expected to lose the upcoming vote, which would result in the fall of his government and further political uncertainty for France.

The strongest words this Tuesday came, however, from the far-right national rally leader, Jordan Bardella, who declared that the miracle did not happen and that this meeting won't change the national rally's position. He also demanded for snap elections to be held as soon as possible. The consultations will continue throughout this week, but it's an uphill battle for François Beru. Unless there's a traumatic turnaround, the Prime Minister looks like he is set to lose the vote on Monday, a defeat that would topple his government but also plunge France into yet another phase of political uncertainty.
