Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the Proud Boys, has been released from federal prison. Tarrio was convicted for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, particularly for seditious conspiracy and other related charges. His release is part of the pardons issued by President Trump for individuals convicted in connection with the Capitol attack.

CBS News correspondent Jason Allen reported that Tarrio is currently in a holding area and is expected to return to his family in Miami within the next few days. Initially, it was anticipated that Tarrio would be moved from a Louisiana prison to a nearby airport in Dallas, Texas, before heading to Florida. However, due to processing and weather conditions, the exact timing of his flight is still subject to change.

The decision to pardon several individuals, including Tarrio, comes after years of investigations, trials, and sentencing processes following the events at the U.S. Capitol. This rapid series of pardons has resulted in the release of many convicted participants from prison.

Well that includes former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio who walked free from his prison cell. He was convicted for seditious conspiracy and other charges. So let's go live to CBS News correspondent Jason Allen right now. He's live from Dallas's Love Field Airport. Jason we understand that that's where he will be wheels up in coming hours or days. What are you seeing there? Yeah coming days and you know just the fact Reid that we are here this morning really demonstrates just how quickly all of this is happening right. We have gone through years of investigations and trials and prosecutions and sentencing and now in the span of a night with a signature from President Trump we are talking about many many of these people now being released from prison. Now originally our reporting we were expecting Tarrio to move from a prison where he has been held in Louisiana, get a flight here from Dallas the closest airport especially with all the weather that's going on down south and make a flight back to his family in Miami. Our most recent reporting we have in the last 90 minutes to two hours here is that it looks more likely now that Tarrio will probably make that flight back to Florida tomorrow. As much as this has been quick there is still processing that has to happen. There is still paperwork that has to happen. So even though he has been released there's probably some of those back-end administrative things that are happening. We've been told he's in a holding area but now expecting him to make the flight probably more likely tomorrow but this has been a pretty fluid situation that we've seen here throughout the morning.
