Firefighters are facing fatigue after the Monroe Canyon fire doubled in size with another round of evacuations.

The Monroe Canyon fire in Utah has rapidly expanded, doubling in size from 11,000 to nearly 21,000 acres over a short period. Containment remains low at 13 percent, and the fire has been burning for approximately 13 days, leading to additional evacuations and significant strain on firefighting crews.

Firefighters are experiencing fatigue as they continue to battle the blaze, with operations including the removal of hazardous trees and the use of drones equipped with infrared cameras to monitor for spot fires. Aerial support has also been deployed, with at least eight aircraft spreading fire retardant. No catastrophic failures have been reported, and evacuation information remains available to the public.

I'm Fox 13 News reporter Carolina Hassett. We've seen the Monroe fire double in size with a whole other round of evacuations taking place. Now behind me this is a time lapse of just how much this fire has grown. As of Friday the fire was around 11,000 acres and by Sunday it reached almost 21,000 acres with just 13 percent containment. Now this fire has been burning for roughly 13 days now and this is just some of the footage we've received from you all over time. You can see how intense this is. Now I looked into the latest updates and what firefighters are doing to tackle this massive fire. We were pretty spread thin last night and it was it was a pretty rough night. Firefighters are facing fatigue after the Monroe Canyon fire doubled in size. Operations section chief Matt Call walked the public through the trouble area Sunday morning with Magleby being one of them. There was a fair amount of heat going through there but we do have crews actively accessing that assessing damage taking trees to hazard trees down. Now it's just kind of picking up the pieces and putting out some of the smoldering masses. The fire continued to push towards porters and long flat where evacuations are still in place. Call says they had to do a special operation in attempt to control the fire. If we take that heat out and remove those fuels it doesn't hit us with such a such a vengeance. And the other concern is monitoring spot fires. We have a drone basically that has an infrared camera and it's going to fly out there it's fly out looking for those spots and we have those working till about three in the morning. Call says on Saturday there were at least eight aircrafts in the air working to spread fire retardant. Call says there have been no catastrophic failures yet.
