Although women were only allowed to participate from 1975, some female runners say the tradition is slowly gaining popularity among women and encourage others to join.

The bull run, which covers 846 meters and lasts a few minutes, draws thousands of spectators each year. Participants note that during the run, everyone faces the same risks, regardless of gender, and hope to see greater female participation in the future.

But women were not able to participate in the bull runs until 1975 due to a decree that was repealed one year earlier. Still, only 6% of runners are women, according to data from Pamplona's town hall. Monday marked the last day of this year's San Fermin festival, with a closing ceremony at midnight.
