Many reported that prices were significantly higher than those for the 2022 tournament, with some tickets costing up to ten times more. The introduction of dynamic pricing by FIFA has resulted in fluctuating prices, with Category 1 seats at all U.S. venues priced above $400 and lower-priced options being extremely limited. Some fans found that seats advertised as starting at $60 were actually listed at much higher prices when attempting to purchase. Additionally, tickets have already appeared on resale markets at even higher prices, further fueling fan frustration.

Now this happened during Ibiza pre-sale event which kicked off last week. Some 4.5 million people registering interest to buy during this pre-sale event. Far fewer actually getting the chance. But those who did saw that prices are up not just a little. In some cases 4 times, even 10 times what we saw from the last World Cup back in 2022. Now part of this is due to the introduction of dynamic or variable pricing which is being used by FIFA for the World Cup for the very first time. This having some games going up in price after the first day of the pre-sales event. Now as to how much people are paying, well most of these are priced in the hundreds. All 11 venues in the U.S. for Category 1 tickets are priced above $400 per seat. But what about those cheap seats? This starts around $60. Well fans quickly realized not many of these to be had. In fact I was looking around on the website and you can see here they're of limited availability. But look at this. Match 61 shows that you can get some. So I want you to click into that. Fans quickly learned. And if we move to the next graphic I can show you. You click into that. You want to get a $60 seat? No. The starting price $310. So that's a second type of frustration fans were experiencing. Now the reason I was even able to look around that website is because a colleague here at CNBC registered for the pre-sale event was able to buy. She got 4 tickets to go to New York. $620 per person. But already these are on the resale market for between $1,500 to $2,500.
