Recent online posts have claimed that the Netherlands has banned Antifa, a loosely affiliated anti-fascist movement. While the Dutch parliament did pass a motion recommending that Antifa be labelled a terrorist organisation, this motion is not legally binding and does not constitute an official ban.

The Dutch government is not required to implement parliamentary motions unless they are motions of no confidence. As such, there is currently no legal ban on Antifa in the Netherlands, and claims to the contrary are inaccurate.

However, following Trump's declarations, Hungary followed suit, announcing that it would also ban Antifa and urging the EU to do the same, as detailed in a letter addressed to the European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaya Kalas. As for the Netherlands, online users are also claiming that the country's government has banned Antifa. Now, according to the Dutch parliament's website, a motion on labelling Antifa as a terrorist organisation in the Netherlands was passed on the 18th of September, with 76 out of 150 votes. However, motions are just recommendations rather than legally binding decisions. Although parliament can submit motions, the Netherlands government is not obliged to carry them out, unless they are a motion of no confidence.
