An explosion occurred at State Senior High School 72 in northern Jakarta as students gathered in the mosque for prayers, resulting in injuries to over 50 people, the majority of whom are students. Approximately 30 individuals remain hospitalized, while most injuries are reported as minor. 

Police, including bomb squad and tactical units, are actively investigating the incident. The suspected perpetrator, who underwent surgery, is in custody, and authorities are working to determine the motive. Toy weapons were found at the scene and are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

I'm in northern Jakarta in Klapagading and just behind me is the state senior high school number 72. The site of these explosions which resulted in more than 50 people, most of them students, being injured. Now I'll just talk you through the details as we know them. Students were gathered in the mosque within this high school, gathered for prayers and just as those prayers were beginning an explosion was set off. Students ran from the mosque onto the basketball court covering their ears to shield themselves from the explosion. Now most of the injuries are minor but some 30 individuals, again most of them students, remain in hospital. You can see that there is still a great deal of activity here on this street leading up to the school. Police officers, including those from the tactical unit, from the bomb squad as well, are on site as they continue their investigations and a short while ago we heard from the national head of police who said that they are still determining the motive of the suspect. For now, one of the people who underwent surgery is the suspected perpetrator and as for the motive we are currently investigating. We will gather various pieces of information so that it can form a complete and coherent picture. This is still a developing situation. Parents have recounted to the media that their children were injured when shards of glass were flung at them from the force of the explosions and police say this is still very much a developing situation. As they try to determine the motive of the suspect, they did find some toy weapons at the site of the school and they say they'll be looking at those closely as part of their investigations.
