These shelters trap the hot air, turning homes into ovens. Inside, families struggle to breathe, stay hydrated, and survive. Water is in short supply. Long lines stretch for blocks. Many wait for hours for a few liters, a fraction of what they need. Some families are forced to choose between drinking, cooking, and washing. We're six families living here. We all suffer a lot from the war. We also suffer from the extremely hot weather and the lack of water. We don't even have water to wash the dishes. It's very difficult for the children to go out in this weather to find some water. I can't find the words to describe our suffering. I can't find water to even take a shower. We have no water. We have no food. Overwhelmed hospitals already scrambling to treat the malnourished and those injured in Israel's war are now admitting new patients suffering from heat-related illnesses. Fuel shortages mean cooling systems don't work. Life-saving medicine spoils. And with power out for most of the day, the few medical centers still operating can't treat dehydration or heat stroke.
