East Coast of the United States

A powerful nor'easter has impacted the East Coast of the United States, bringing strong winds and significant flooding to coastal communities. States of emergency have been declared in all of New Jersey and parts of southern New York as tidal flooding inundated roads and forced residents to take precautions.

The storm has caused widespread damage, including uprooted trees, downed power lines, and at least three fatalities. In New York City, a woman was killed by a flying solar panel, while a plane crash near Cape Cod, Massachusetts, resulted in two deaths and one injury. The weather's role in the crash is still under investigation. Meanwhile, other regions such as California and Arizona are also experiencing severe weather, with heavy rains and damaging winds reported.

The first nor'easter of the season is ashore and continuing to bring rough surf and powerful winds to millions in the east. We put boards up to make sure if the water flows this way that it doesn't come down the road. All of New Jersey and parts of southern New York under states of emergency, as relentless northeast winds forced ocean water onshore flooding coastal communities. Nearly half the roads here in Manisquan have some sort of tidal flooding. This is one of the worst. You see the water up to the stairwells of those homes as far as the eye can see. The flood water is so deep here, some locals took to surfing and kayaking in the street. Gusty winds also uprooted trees and downed power lines throughout the region. In New York City, a woman was struck and killed by a solar panel that flew off a nearby carport. And in Massachusetts, two people were killed and one injured when a small plane crashed near Cape Cod. It's unclear if weather was a factor. Also off Cape Cod, new video showing the Coast Guard safely hoisting a man from choppy waters. No word yet on how he ended up in the water. And on the west coast, California is bracing for heavy rains and possible mudflows from an early season storm. In Tempe, Arizona, a severe storm with a microburst devastating parts of the city with winds topping 70 miles per hour.
