A line of severe storms will be possible along a cold front Wednesday afternoon bringing the chance for damaging wind gusts to places like Houston, San Antonio, Memphis and Nashville. Heavy rain could also lead to flooding, especially across parts of Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. The severe threat shifts east to include most of the East Coast Thursday.

A severe weather threat is developing across parts of the southern United States, stretching from Texas through Tennessee and into Kentucky. Warm temperatures and daytime heating are contributing to the formation of a line of storms, which is expected to move eastward.

While the storm line may not remain well-defined, embedded strong thunderstorms could bring damaging winds to affected areas. Residents should remain alert as multiple rounds of storms may occur as the system progresses.

Our severe weather threat goes from Texas up to Tennessee even into Kentucky as well and watch because the daytime heating obviously is going to be a huge deal here. We have a lot of warm temperatures still in the south and we are going to see quite a line develop for us as we head into the afternoon and into the early evening hours and all of that is going to be sliding east and it doesn't hold together super well as this well-defined line per se but within it there are some stronger thunderstorms that will rumble through and you'll be like boy that was a big one and then it will be finished type of thing and then you might get another one.
