Australia's Olympic campaign has taken a historic turn, claiming gold medals in cycling, skateboarding, pole vaulting, and sailing. The Australian men's cycling team, composed of Oliver Bledden, Sam Welsford, Connor Leahy, and Kelland O'Brien, clinched gold after a fierce rivalry with Britain. The quartet also set a world record during the heats prior to their victory in the final.

In sailing, Matthew Wearn secured a gold medal in the men's dinghy race, marking his second consecutive Olympic championship in the event. Wearn expressed that the magnitude of his achievement has not fully sunk in yet.

Skateboarder Keegan Palmer successfully defended his skateboarding park title from Tokyo, winning another gold medal. Palmer competed in front of an enthusiastic audience, including celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Tony Hawk, and became an inspiration for young skateboarders in Australia.

Australia's pole vaulting and skateboarding events also saw success, further solidifying their position as a dominant force in these Olympic Games.



Cycling, sailing wins cement Australia's greatest ever Olympics

Not since 2004 has Australia done this. Oliver Bledden, Sam Welsford, Connor Leahy and Kelland O'Brien utterly exhausted after a blistering team pursuit. We come up trumps today and the three boys standing next to me have just executed an absolutely amazing ride. Australia against Britain, the ultimate rivalry in a race for redemption. I think maybe the rest of the world would have cannelled us out a bit after Tokyo in the following years but yeah we knew that we were in for a shot of a medal and the win. Our men's quartet had already set the standard before the final, smashing the world record in the heats but their coach wanted more. Gold medals last forever but world records don't so we've got to come out tomorrow and win that race. The families watched as they did just that, Kelland O'Brien's mum almost missed the games until her son stepped in. I wasn't coming and about four or five weeks ago Kel just surprised me with the trip. There were celebrations in Marseille too for Matt Wern, the sailor laser focused on the Mediterranean Sea, winning gold in the men's dinghy. He's the first back to back Olympic champion in the event. I don't think it's fully sunk in yet exactly what I've achieved. From sailing to skateboarding, Keegan Palmer glided his way to gold, hot on the heels of Arissa True who won the women's event. Keegan you've done it, you have made absolute history. Defending his skateboarding park title from Tokyo. I literally can't believe it, you know the goal was just trying to be a two time Olympian and we made a two time gold medalist. The 21 year old did it in front of a star studded crowd, watching on in awe Snoop Dogg and skating immortal Tony Hawk. It's always special when he's in the arena just because we wouldn't be able to do this if it wasn't for him, he pretty much invented half the tricks that I did on my run. Now it's Keegan who is an inspiration. We've got little Ava, she's two on her skateboard. A home grown skateboarding superstar doing Australia proud.

The talk comes a day after President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed Ukraine, Iran and other issues in a call the Kremlin described as "frank and constructive."
