Well, we are on Storm Watch tonight in communities across the island, preparing for rain, potential flooding and wind. News 12's Kevin Vesey has a look at what's being done to keep you safe. You know, you expect the storms, you expect the flooding, the mayor may not come, and you prepare for it. Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri making final preparations ahead of the storm that's expected to bring heavy rain and possibly flooding on Thursday. The village has been hit with flooding in the past, and he says storm drains will be tested. We spent the last couple days taking a look at the drainage, making sure that the drainage down here works. Meanwhile, the Riverhead Town Supervisor warning residents not to drive through standing water, writing, There may be some water on low-lying roads and property. Please do not drive through flooded roadways. Wind gusts could take down power lines. A PSCG Long Island spokesperson telling us, We have performed system and logistic checks and have a full complement of personnel who will mobilize for restoration in foul weather conditions. And in Island Park, where flooding is also an issue, officials are keeping a close eye on high tide. During that time, our Department of Public Works personnel are going to be on call, on the job, working to be sure that there are no problems, and we'll deal with any problems that come up.
