Moments of reflection and reckoning. In the wake of a devastating attack. Well, I think we're all feeling a little bit rattled at the moment and I think it's a message of reassurance. That message delivered at sermons across the country as church leaders reached out across faiths. Amid the shock and the wrenching grief, we have been humbled and inspired by the courage and dignity of the Jewish community. Each echoing calls for unity. There is actually a better way for us to live together. It's the way of peace, it's the way of reconciliation, it's the way of not just tolerance but respect for each other. CHOIR SINGS As the faithful came together from all walks of life and all corners of the globe to celebrate Christmas. People are on their own today. There's so many people here, different backgrounds, different ethnicities, they're all in here welcome. It was wonderful. Like, it's our first mass in Melbourne. The message was just heart-filling, heart-warming and about peace and kindness and let's think about each other. Let's make this world a better place. That sentiment put to a rock beat as worshippers rejoiced at Hillsong... CHOIR SINGS ..and Planet Shakers. At services right across the country, a repeated theme has been connection and caring for others at a time of rising loneliness and mental health issues. Many people, especially young people, go home and they feel desperately lonely and actually sometimes epidemically lonely and so Christmas has a message that is one of hope for the lonely. And for Melbourne's St Paul's Cathedral's new Archbishop, who has recently moved to Australia from England, there's an extra prayer for the English cricket team ahead of the Boxing Day test. There's always a need and a prayer for England right now so, sadly, we've lost the series and I think we don't want it really to be a whitewash.
